WRONG: Seattle’s Socialist Mayor Katie Wilson Claims the Cost of Housing is Driving Homelessness (VIDEO)

During a recent media interview, Seattle’s new socialist mayor Katie Wilson claimed that homelessness is being driven by the cost of housing.

That’s simply not true. As Spencer Pratt has pointed out repeatedly, the vast majority of people living on the streets are not necessarily homeless people, they’re simply drug addicts. That is what is behind the homeless issue, whether you’re talking about Los Angeles or Seattle.

Wilson was actually responding to comments from Pratt when this came up.

The New York Post has details:

Wilson appeared amused when the reporter asked her about Pratt, and at one point, an audience member was heard making a “woo” sound when the reporter mentioned that Pratt may survive last Tuesday’s primary election.

“Yeah, golly, was that a cheer?” she asked, then laughed.

“I’m not going to respond to him, but I will respond to you all,” Wilson said, referring to the audience.

“What is driving homelessness is housing costs. There is a very, very clear correlation between housing costs and homelessness.”

But the socialist acknowledged that Pratt had a point about drug addicts. Her city has been plagued with open-air drug use spreading across Seattle’s streets, an issue the reporter pressed her on later in the interview.

Wilson is also still laughing about the idea of wealthy job creators leaving her city.

Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson said concerns about wealthy residents and businesses leaving Washington over rising taxes are “overblown” during an interview on Wednesday.

“So today, do you still feel the narrative of the rich leaving is still overblown,” FOX 13 Seattle co-anchor Hana Kim asked Wilson.

“So, I still think that claims of a large exodus of rich people due to our statewide millionaire tax that the legislature passed this year are overblown,” Wilson responded with a chuckle. “I do believe that.”

In March, Washington state Democrats passed the millionaire’s tax, a 9.9% income tax for households that make over $1 million a year, which Democratic Gov. Bob Ferguson signed on March 30. It’s the state’s first-ever income tax, pushed by progressives and opposed by conservatives.

It’s hard to know who who is worse, Wilson or Mamdani.
