Trump Stuns MAGA After Endorsing Andrew Cuomo

President Donald Trump has shocked the MAGA base after endorsing former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) in the Big Apple’s mayoral election.

Today is Election Day across the country, where voters will choose their representatives at the state level.

In New York, specifically, there has been considerable controversy surrounding the candidacy of socialist Zohran Mamdani to become the next mayor of New York City.

In fact, Mamdani’s radical leftist politics have led Republicans to abandon the GOP mayoral nominee, Curtis Silwa, and endorse Cuomo.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk was one of the first top figures to call on New York voters to choose Cuomo.

Musk argued that voting for Silwa would only hand the election to Mamdani.

“Remember to vote tomorrow in New York! Bear in mind that a vote for Curtis is really a vote for Mumdumi or whatever his name is. VOTE CUOMO!” Musk wrote on X.

Following in Musk’s footsteps was the president, Trending Politics reported.

On Truth Social, Trump urged voters not to support Mamdani or Silwa.

The argument for not supporting Silwa stems from the unlikelihood that the GOP nominee has what it takes to win in a liberal stronghold such as New York City.

Given this, Trump emphasized the importance of supporting Cuomo, much to the dissatisfaction of MAGA.

“If Communist Candidate Zohran Mamdani wins the Election for Mayor of New York City, it is highly unlikely that I will be contributing Federal Funds, other than the very minimum as required, to my beloved first home, because of the fact that, as a Communist, this once great City has ZERO chance of success, or even survival! It can only get worse with a Communist at the helm, and I don’t want to send, as President, good money after bad,” Trump said.

“It is my obligation to run the Nation, and it is my strong conviction that New York City will be a Complete and Total Economic and Social Disaster should Mamdani win. His principles have been tested for over a thousand years, and never once have they been successful. I would much rather see a Democrat, who has had a Record of Success, WIN, than a Communist with no experience and a Record of COMPLETE AND TOTAL FAILURE,” he added.

“He was nothing as an Assemblyman, ranked at the bottom of the class and, as Mayor of potentially, again, the Greatest City in the World, HE HAS NO CHANCE to bring it back to its former Glory! We must also remember this — A vote for Curtis Sliwa (who looks much better without the beret!) is a vote for Mamdani. Whether you personally like Andrew Cuomo or not, you really have no choice. You must vote for him, and hope he does a fantastic job. He is capable of it, Mamdani is not!” he concluded.

In December 2020, during his time as New York governor, Cuomo was accused of sexual harassment by multiple women in a scandal that rocked his political career. On August 24, 2021, he resigned as governor due to such allegations.

Nonetheless, the president is throwing his weight behind Cuomo, who has been a long-time critic of his policies.

Some conservatives expressed their dissatisfaction with the president’s decision.

“Ugh whyyyy?!” one person wrote on X.

“Republicans should support Republicans,” another said.

“So disappointed,” a user named Rhonda Santis expressed.

California GOP Congressional candidate David Giglio called Trump’s decision “sickening.”

“Trump endorsing Cuomo is sickening. I can’t even put all my disgust into the proper words,” he said. As someone whose uncle died unexpectedly during COVID & was denied proper burial arrangements while Democrats like Andrew Cuomo let tens of thousands of rioters destroy cities, this is indefensible.”
