A police horse was injured during the riots
Approx. 25.000 masked and violent far-left “Antifa” militants unsuccessfully tried to shut down the founding convention of the new youth arm of the patriotic Alternative for Germany (AfD) party in Giessen. The taxpayer-funded street militia blocked motorways and bridges, battled police, conducted checkpoints and caused a police horse to panic and fall down a steep incline. The animal may have to be put down, some observers speculated.
Witnesses reported the horse panicked after rocks were thrown near the main train station, while the police claimed there was “no external cause” and insisted horse and rider were “not injured”.

Several attendees doubted the official version in light of the massive leftist riots ongoing in the mid-size Hessian city of Giessen.
A man identified as used car dealer Can Mahsuni was filmed punching the team of conservative journalist Maximilian Tichy.

6000 law enforcement officers were called up nationwide to secure the founding convention of “Generation Germany,” but were not enough to secure access to the venue as leftist militants set up 19 road blocks leading to the venue.

“The intolerant and violent Left is gaining ground in Germany,” former US ambassador to Germany Richard Grenell posted. “If they follow the U.S. left then they will promote deadly violence while also losing public support – and elections. The protests were organized by leftist German labor union DGB, which has received €27 M taxpayer funding for its own “youth organization” to “protect democracy” since 2015, together with Soros-financed mobilization org Campact, the German version of MoveOn, which typically organizes busses and train tickets.
Union members could keep their receipts and get their travel expenses reimbursed, the DGB union announced.

While leftists had hoped to mobilize 50.000 violent militants and encouraged “Civil Disobedience” (committing crimes), apparently only about 25.000 street fighters turned up.

AfD Bundestag delegate Julian Schmidt and his bodyguard was attacked by a mob of about 20 masked militants, but the escort drove off the score of attackers with a well-placed haymaker. Schmidt had his nose broken and cuts and bruises in his face, he said.
